Important Update for Scholarship Recipients: Policy Changes and Additional Requirements

The American Board of Higher Education Commission (ABHEC), a non-profit organization committed to supporting international students through scholarship programs, is implementing policy revisions in response to recent updates from the U.S. administration. These changes may affect students awaiting travel approvals, requiring additional documentation, extended processing times, and potential administrative fees as part of new compliance measures.

Policy Revisions and Their Impact on Scholarship Recipients

The latest policy amendments stem from concerns regarding fund allocation and its impact on the U.S. economy. According to official government reports, the previous administration’s scholarship program lacked adequate oversight, prompting the current leadership to introduce stricter financial controls and enhanced verification processes for international students.

As a result, students with pending travel approvals may now face an extended waiting period of up to six months while their applications undergo additional review. This delay is attributed to the reassessment of funding allocations and stricter background verification processes.

While students already enrolled in U.S. institutions will not experience immediate disruptions, they may be required to submit additional documentation for background checks as part of an administrative review mandated by the new government policies.

Submission of New Documents and Additional Fees

To comply with these updated policies, students may be required to update their records to ensure compliance with new academic and financial regulations. While these changes do not impact the scholarship itself, administrative costs may apply for file updates from the previous to the current administration.

Key Updates and Requirements:

Submission of Additional Documents:
  o Updated financial statements
  o Proof of academic enrollment
o Letters of intent from host institutions (if applicable)

Extended Verification Process:
o Comprehensive background checks, including financial audits
  o Security screenings (where applicable)
  o Academic credential verification

New Administrative Fees:
o To cover the cost of enhanced verification steps
o Fees may vary based on the student’s program, campus, and state regulations

Additionally, the cost of No Inquiry Certification (NIC) and Non-Demanding Certificate (NDC) may differ for full-time, regular, and scholarship students, depending on updated compliance requirements.

These measures have been implemented as part of the new government reforms aimed at improving transparency, strengthening academic integrity, and ensuring that all scholarship funds are distributed and utilized efficiently.

Mandatory Compliance Form for Scholarship Recipients

In response to these changes, ABHEC has introduced a mandatory compliance form for all affected students. This form outlines the updated terms and conditions and must be signed and submitted before the review process can proceed. Failure to complete this step may result in further delays or potential cancellation of the scholarship.

Next Steps fo Students

We understand that these new requirements may cause concerns, and we are actively working with relevant authorities to minimize disruptions for scholarship recipients. However, it is critical that students take immediate action to ensure they remain compliant with the updated policies.

We strongly encourage students to:

  2. Prepare and submit the required additional documents as soon as possible.
  3. Complete and return the compliance form to avoid disruptions to their scholarship status.
  4. Be prepared for possible administrative fees and factor them into their financial planning.
